Bass trombonist Youngseok Ko is a member of the Korean National Symphony Orchestra, based at the Seoul Arts Center. He completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the Korea National University of Arts, establishing a strong musical foundation, and was recognized early on for his rich tone and solid musicianship.

After graduation, he began his professional career as a member of the Gwacheon Philharmonic Orchestra and Philharmonia Korea, and was also invited to perform as a guest musician with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and the KBS Symphony Orchestra. Since joining the Korean National Symphony Orchestra in 2012, he has performed in more than one hundred concerts annually and has collaborated with the Korea National Opera and the Korean National Ballet, mastering a wide range of repertoire from opera and ballet to symphonic works. He has also taken part in numerous international tours, further deepening his artistry on the global stage.

As a soloist and chamber musician, Ko has performed as a soloist with the Seoul Trombone Choir at the IBK Chamber Hall of the Seoul Arts Center, earning critical acclaim. He is a founding member of the brass ensemble Nabal’s, which debuted at the IBK Chamber Hall and has since maintained regular performances at major venues such as the Seoul Arts Center and the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts. In addition, as a member of the KNLB Trombone Quartet—comprised of musicians from the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Chungnam Symphony Orchestra, and Chuncheon Philharmonic Orchestra—he gave the group’s inaugural concert at Olympus Hall and continues to pursue chamber music with passion.

Ko is also dedicated to education and the training of future generations of musicians. He has taught at Chung-Ang University, Sungshin Women’s University, Chungnam National University, Keimyung University, and Gyeonggi Arts High School. He is currently a lecturer at Yonsei University and Ewha Womans University., where he shares his extensive orchestral and chamber music experience to provide practical and in-depth guidance to his students. Through both performance and teaching, he continues to expand his influence as a performer and educator alike.
