Jean Philippe Duay

Principal Trombone, Lucerne Symphony Orchestra

Jean-Philippe Duay was born in September 1983 in Saint-Aubin, Switzerland. The summer of 2004 was an eventful time for Jean-Philippe as he received a soloist diploma from professor Andrea Bandini in Geneva and was also appointed principal trombonist of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra.

He studied with David Bruchez of the Zurich Opera from 2003-2004. He has also studied with Michel Becquet, Dany Bonvin and Charles Vernon. Jean-Philippe has performed as principal trombonist with the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, the Zurich Opera Orchestra, the Basel Symphony Orchestra, and the World Youth Orchestra. He appeared as soloist with the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana in 2002 and in 2003 won second prize in the Concours National d’Execution Musicale in Riddes.

Jean-Philippe is the founder of the Swiss Brass Express.
