Christopher Bassett

Bass Trombone, Jacksonville Symphony & Santa Fe Opera

Christopher Bassett is the Bass Trombonist of the Jacksonville Symphony and the Santa Fe Opera. He has performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, Boston Pops, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and Vermont Symphony Orchestra. In addition to these professional ensembles, he was a Fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center in 2016.

Mr. Bassett received his Bachelor of Music degree at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, where he studied with James Markey. He late pursued graduate work there, additionally studying with Norman Bolter, Stephen Lange, Toby Oft and Mike Roylance.Prior to his appointment in both the Jacksonville Symphony and the Santa Fe Opera, he won grand prizes in the 2017 Zellmer Trombone Competition, the International Trombone Association’s 2017 Edward Kleinhammer Competition and the 2016 American Trombone Workshop Solo Competition. A committed educator, he maintains a private sutdio and serves as a low brass clinician in Jacksonville, Florida, and has given masterclasses across the United States.

Christopher is proud to be a performing artist for Greenhoe Trombones and performs on a Greenhoe GB5-3Y bass trombone.
