The fitment of a Greenhoe Valve section is straightforward on a trombone that needs our mounting kit. One sends us the bell section, and we perform a stress-free modification. We still insist on aligning Shires and Edwards bell sections at our shop, and customers have asked, "Why?".
The answer is quite easy. We build our Greenhoe Valve sections
to higher tolerances than anyone we know. This means that
trombone parts that are mated to each other in the original
factory may not fit our section without alignment.
Our alignment process is straightforward and logical. It is the
same for all trombones whether the mounting studs exist or
not.
We have found that most existing bell sections require disassembly of the bell flare/tuning slide receiver as well as the main tuning slide to completely align both components prior to fitting the Greenhoe Valve Section. When disassembly is required, a Level 2 modification is defined. We may, however, find that the parts are aligned well enough that we can simply move a joint or two slightly to achieve alignment. In this case, we will use the Level 1 pricing structure. This way, one may be credited for a less-expensive valve section installation. We always strive to charge the least amount of money for our services, while guaranteeing the work is done to the highest standards.
We find that many trombones can use partial or complete restoration while the horn is in the process of getting a Greenhoe upgrade. We will consult with you to determine what level of restoration is possible. We then will quote the price on an individual basis. As always, our work is guaranteed to be of the highest quality.
