Greenhoe Services - Bell Mounting Information

The fitment of a Greenhoe Valve section is straightforward on a trombone that needs our mounting kit. One sends us the bell, and we perform a stress-free modification. We still insist on aligning Shires and Edwards bell sections at our shop, and customers have asked, "Why?".

The answer is quite easy. We build our Greenhoe Valve sections to higher tolerances than anyone we know. This means that trombone parts that are mated to each other in the original factory may not fit our section without alignment.

Our alignment process is straightforward and logical. It is the same for all trombones whether the mounting studs exist or not.

The first procedure is to align the main tuning slide tubes. When these tubes are parallel and round, we have a good starting place. The second procedure is to align the large side tuning slide receiver with the bell flare. If these parts are on axis, we can then mount the two crossbar studs with complete confidence that the valve section will mount to the bell with no additional stresses.
