Tubing Wrap InformationGary has researched the wrap of trombones for over 30 years. In designing the wrap for the Greenhoe Valve Section, we used his minimum bend radius and applied it not only to the wrap, but to the entrance and exit of the valve itself. We found that any number of bends in the system could be considered "sonically transparent", provided the bends were at or larger than the minimum bend radius. Many people have asked why we have a 90 degree bend in our wraps. The answer is threefold:
Finally, we have two different materials for the valve section tubing: yellow or red brass. We have discovered that opposites attract - red or gold brass bells seem to like yellow sections, and yellow bells play remarkably well with a red section. Sterling bells seem to play best with a red section. |
