GreenhoeTrombone Rest BarEvery trombonist has had to deal with tension in the left hand, while trying to keep the trigger finger(s) or thumb relaxed to work valves. We have improved on the devices that have been tried on trombones and are offering the Greenhoe Trombone Rest Bar. What is the Trombone Rest Bar? Simply, the Trombone Rest Bar is a device which is custom fitted to your hand, which carries most of the weight of the trombone. It fits in the crook between your thumb and forefinger, and allows the left hand to relax while working trigger levers. Additionally, a more ergonomic hand position is possible, whereby the forefinger AND second finger are in front of the handslide crossbar, with the last two fingers behind. How does it work? The Trombone Rest Bar is the result of many weeks of research. We found out the following:
We experimented with various adjustment modes on the rest bar, and found that they either were too bulky, or didn't work well. We found that a temporary locator was possible, but not very pretty - a simple hose clamp!! The hose clamp effectively holds the rest bar in any position you wish, allowing marking to eventually solder the device in place. This "two-step" process takes a little interactive work on your part, but assures a true "custom" fit with a factory look once "your" location is found. Additionally, we designed the device to allow rotation of the curved bar to fit your hand exactly. This is done by a technician, but is very easy to do. What size is right for me? The Trombone Rest Bar comes in two sizes, but this is not sized for the horn, but the player. Most players can use a Regular size on tenor or bass trombone. Players with very large hands will appreciate the Large size. If in doubt, order the Regular size. How do Install it? See the Rest Bar Installation Gallery for detailed illustrations. |
